The Way We Write

Somedays I get many writing ideas, other times not one!

Often in dreams and sometimes while awake. Upon awakening, if I do not write the ideas down quickly I forget.

Other days I must get up to go to work or begin my day and really have no time for the idea at all, so the thought is simply left in yesterday, forgotten.

If time and space permits, I am obedient and answer the call.

When I operate in obedience the post almost writes itself. I do it fluidly, quickly and efficiently.

Sometimes, when I do not take heed to the prompting, it will not leave me alone. It will stay and whisper in my ear until from sheer aggravation, I acquiesce.

So my friends, my question to you is…how do your ideas come?

And what steps do you take if you are not in a position to record it?

I am a lover of God, most things from nature, (not worms or snakes) and photography. I love dancing, music, reading, learning new things. I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend. I am a Registered (Emergency Room) Nurse by profession. The intent behind this blog is to share tips on how we can become healthier and better versions of ourselves as we journey life's road together. I write about my life experiences, health, childhood lessons, my relationship with God and man and heed the promptings of the Holy Spirit. So let us journey alongside each other. 1. I am inspired by many things, quotes, other bloggers, life events. I find sometimes I get an idea in the middle of the night. In order to let go of the idea and sleep, I write it down and hope that my note makes sense in the light of day.

  2. I either get inspiration from either my past or current experiences or get ideas from another post or comment, or sometimes my own comment will inspire me to write a post to expound on the matter.

  3. I had a teacher when I was younger who always told us not to ask “What if” questions (like “what if this happens?” or “what if that happens?”) Naturally, when looking around any environment you happen to be in, the question arises. That is typically where my writing ideas come from. If I can’t write it down immediately or if I forget it, then it is usually gone for a while or for good.

It’s interesting to see where you get your ideas from. I appreciate that you talk about a wide range of subjects on here.

  4. Hi ! I could identify with you when you said sometimes a post will just write itself. Usually I find myself thinking about something for a while, and composing it in my mind, and when it is time to be written, I write it very quickly.🤗

  5. From the Holy Spirit, sometime it’s in a dream or quiet time or while running… If I’m not where I can write it down in my journal, I put notes in my phone. If I’m driving and I have to record my notes by talking and write the message later.

  6. Indeed I am one of those who normally come up with ideas and immediately forget them before writing down.
It’s a good practice to note down those ideas so that you can use them to generate more.
    Thank you for sharing.

  7. This resonates with me, Pene’. I struggle with wanting to write sometimes 😅. Someone once told me, when we feel resistance, it’s usually a sign we’re about to do something great. That oftentimes helps me push through. Other times I just take the break 😬😜.

  8. I get some of best creative ideas in the shower. By the time I get out & dried off, most of them have evaporated. Because we travel and spend time in nature, I have an unlimited array of topics to write about. Nice post!

  9. I constantly daydream. Visions bouncing around my head like a pinball until something sticks. Once I have my foot in the door with a concept it kind of writes itself. I set a structure, then play and create within that structure. Most of my writing is in my head away from the laptop. I jot down ideas on my phone or make a mental note of them, before the write up. Editing is definitely the most important part of the final piece.

Thanks for sharing your post 🙂

  10. Now retired from teaching, I have quite a bit of time to devote to my writing. I try to write every morning, usually in the early hours before the sun rises. I write a number of Christian-themed poems, and much of my devotions fuel ideas for writing. Some of my other writing relates to personal and family memories. I keep a notebook handy to write down poetry and short story ideas that pop into my mind.

  11. I’m always writing down things as they come to me. I use the notes section in my phone. Even if it’s just one word or one phrase I write it down.

    1. I have begun doing that, the other day a great idea came to me while at work, I did not write it down and 1 hour late it was gone. I tried in vain to remember, but nothing.
